Surfboard shipping
Because surfboards are large, fragile and expensive to transport, shipping is arranged individually for each order.
Shipping is not automatically included in the price of a surfboard unless this is clearly stated in your quotation or invoice.
Once your board is ready, Sawyer Surfboards will look for the safest and most affordable delivery option available for your destination.
Depending on the location and timing, this may include:
-
A courier or freight company
-
Air cargo
-
Airport or depot collection
-
A specialist surfboard transporter
-
Delivery through a trusted person travelling to your area
-
Another transport option agreed with you
We often explore different delivery options to find the most practical and affordable route for each customer.
Shipping quotations
Shipping costs are confirmed separately.
To request a shipping quotation, please provide:
-
Your full delivery location
-
Postal code
-
Contact number
-
Whether you can collect from an airport or depot
-
Your preferred delivery timeframe
We will obtain a quotation and send it to you for approval before arranging shipment.
No surfboard will be dispatched until:
-
The shipping method has been agreed
-
The shipping cost has been accepted
-
Full payment for the board and shipping has been received
-
Your delivery details have been confirmed
Shipping prices may change depending on board size, destination, packaging, fuel costs, carrier availability and whether multiple boards are being sent together.
Delivery timeframes
All delivery timeframes are estimates.
The delivery period begins once the completed board has been collected by the courier, carrier or agreed transporter.
Delivery may be affected by:
-
Your location
-
Courier schedules
-
Freight availability
-
Weather
-
Public holidays
-
Customs
-
Airport or depot processing
-
Unexpected transport delays
We will provide tracking or collection information where it is available.
Sawyer Surfboards cannot guarantee an exact delivery date unless this has been expressly agreed in writing.
Delivery through a trusted person
Sometimes the most affordable or practical way to transport a board is through a trusted person already travelling to the customer’s area.
This option will only be used with the customer’s agreement.
Where this method is selected, we will confirm:
-
Who will be transporting the board
-
The expected travel date
-
Where and how the board will be collected
-
Any transport contribution or cost
-
The handover arrangements
Delivery through a travelling person may be less formal than standard courier delivery and may not include tracking or insurance.
We will explain the available information before you approve this option.
Packaging
We take reasonable care to package surfboards safely for the agreed transport method.
Packaging may include:
-
Protective wrapping
-
Bubble wrap or foam
-
Rail protection
-
Nose and tail reinforcement
-
Cardboard packaging
-
A timber crate where necessary
Packaging or crating costs may be added to the shipping quotation.
Please take care when opening your board so that scissors, knives or other tools do not damage it.
Insurance
Insurance availability depends on the carrier and shipping method selected.
Where shipping insurance is available, we will confirm whether it is:
-
Included in the quotation
-
Available at an additional cost
-
Limited by the carrier’s terms
-
Not available for the selected transport method
Customers may be asked to confirm whether they would like optional insurance added.
Delivery through a private individual or trusted traveller may not include insurance.
Shipping damage
Please inspect the board as soon as it is delivered or collected.
If there is visible damage, notify Sawyer Surfboards within 24 hours.
Please email sawyersurfboards@gmail.com and include:
-
Your name
-
Order or invoice number
-
A description of the damage
-
Photographs of the complete package
-
Photographs of shipping labels
-
Photographs of damaged packaging
-
Photographs of the board inside the packaging
-
Close-up photographs of the damaged area
Keep all packaging until the matter has been assessed.
Do not wax, surf, repair or alter the board before contacting us.
Shipping damage will be handled case by case, depending on:
-
The cause of the damage
-
The transport method
-
The carrier’s terms
-
Whether insurance was included
-
Whether the board can be repaired
-
Whether replacement is practical
-
The customer’s location
Where appropriate, we will assist with the carrier or insurance claim and work with you toward a reasonable solution.
Airport and depot collection
Where a board is sent through air cargo or freight, you may need to collect it from an airport, depot or collection point.
Inspect the board and packaging before leaving the facility wherever possible.
If there is visible damage:
-
Report it to the facility representative immediately
-
Ask for the damage to be recorded
-
Take photographs
-
Request a claim or incident reference
-
Contact Sawyer Surfboards as soon as possible
Leaving the facility without reporting visible damage may make a carrier claim more difficult.

Customers may arrange their own courier, freight company or private transporter with prior agreement from Sawyer Surfboards.

-
You are responsible for confirming that the carrier accepts surfboards
-
You are responsible for arranging suitable insurance
-
You are responsible for the carrier’s charges and conditions
-
Collection details must be confirmed with us in advance
We will still take reasonable care when packaging and handing over the board.
